Church Records Archive and Exhibition

By November 25, 2025 Events, News

We’re delighted to announce the launch of Church Records Archive and Exhibition.

The project started back in 2024 as Penryn Methodist Church began it’s transition from place of worship to art space. Small Acts along with Crow Architecture were commissioned by Art Centre Penryn to make a social, spatial and sonic archive of this much loved building that has played a central role in the life of Penryn, Cornwall for over 130 years.

You can explore the extensive new archive here on Art Centre Penryn’s website.

Elements of the Church Records project and archive will be brought to life in a special exhibition at Art Centre Penryn opening Thursday 27 November 2025.

Exhibition opening times:
27 Nov to 6 Dec 2025, Thursday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Late night opening for Penryn Christmas Lights switch on 29 Nov till 8.30pm!

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed to the project and shared their music, memories and expertise with us. It has been a privilege to work on this project in the town we are lucky enough to call home.

Big thanks also to project team Sarah Tridgell, Lottie Matthews and Megan Beck at Art Centre Penryn.

Church Records is made possible with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

About Small Acts

Katie Etheridge and Simon Persighetti are artists and performance makers who create live participatory projects that explore the interrelationships between people and places. Since 2011 they have developed a unique collaborative practice operating at the intersection between architecture, community, place and performance. Engaging people all stages of the creative process, they develop multi-disciplinary methodologies designed to explore, expose and contain multiple perspectives and sometimes conflicting narratives of place.
