Public House: New Brews for 2019

The first iteration of Public House was during Compass Festival 2018. Etheridge and Persighetti created 500 special edition pint glasses designed to spark conversations about the relationships between people, place and pubs. Distributed to every pub on Kirkgate, they invited audiences to debate and reflect on the enduring role of the original “third space”, the public house.

In October 2019 Katie and Simon are returning to Leeds to develop Public House through an artists residency with Compass Live Art.

They’ll be brewing new ideas, conversations, face to face connections, and even beer with people and places in Leeds and Cornwall. This time they are investigating who will own the pub of the future?

At the centre of the residency is an “Exchange” weekend with brewers and pub activists from Cornwall returning a visit by Leeds counterparts that kicked off this years Public House research in July. Can’t wait to taste the resulting collaborative brew by Nomadic Beers (Leeds) and Granite Rock Brewery (Cornwall)!
